Launching in Reigate
Buy from local shops.
They get more business, your school or club gets a share.
BackMyTown is an online marketplace for a town’s independent businesses. Every shop agrees never to list above its usual shop price, and most go lower to win the regular custom. We charge the shop a small fee, and half of that fee goes to a local group you choose.
Not yet open to shoppers. Reigate is first, with InvestReigate.
On a £100 order
Never more than the shop’s usual price, and usually less. Our fee comes out of the shop’s side.
- The shop receives
- £96
- The community group receives
- £2
- BackMyTown keeps
- £2
Paid straight into the shop’s own Stripe account, less Stripe’s card processing fee.
2% of the sale, paid monthly by bank transfer. It comes out of our fee, not out of the shop’s takings.
What is left of our fee after the group’s share. This is how the platform pays for itself.
How it works
Three steps, and then it looks after itself
Pick the causes you care about
Shop with local businesses
Your groups get paid every month
For local businesses
We bring you the customers too
A weekly email to every signed-up household in your town, standing orders instead of one-offs, and nothing to pay until you sell something.
For community groups
Fundraising that needs no volunteers
No raffle tickets, no bag packing, no asking families for more money. Your supporters shop as they already do.
What gets sold
Ordinary things people already buy
This works because nobody has to shop differently. The money that already moves through a town’s bakeries, butchers, cafés and clubs simply carries a little more with it. Standing weekly orders matter most: they turn a one-off good deed into a monthly cheque for a school, and they are the reason a shop can afford to price better here than over the counter. Never worse, though: that one is in theagreement every business signs.

Want this in your town?
Reigate is first, with InvestReigate. After that it is a matter of finding the people who already hold a town together: the PTA chair, the club secretary, the shop owner everyone knows. If that sounds like you, we would like to hear from you.
